High above the popular ski village, the first fairways are carved through lodgepole pines. Then the Robert Trent Jones II course spreads through former cattle ranch land with the old barns still in place. The memorable hole requires a drive from a cliff over a lake.
With the clubhouse and elevated tee box starting along the Snake River near the ski area, the Hurdzan-Fry designed course climbs uphill fast. From the top golfers can view Lake Dillon and the mountains before fairways plunge back to the finish.

The "Highest 18 Hole Golf Course in North America" has a fairways running down 9.983 foot elevation ski slopes. Designed by Pete and Perry Dye.
The highest golf course in North America at a 10,152 foot altitude is in the historic silver mining district of Leadville. The fairways were carved out of pine forests. The range is along the Arkansas River. Summit County and Vail locals drive up here to play affordable golf.
