The Vail area's few public golf courses are always very busy with visitors and residents. Semi-private courses often require expensive lodging in Vail Resorts managed properties. Start our affordable Colorado River Golf Trail in Eagle.
Colorado's last Arnold Palmer designed course is in Eagle near the airport west of Vail. The nearby rushing Eagle River joins the Colorado River just a few miles downstream.
Originally this was a Pete Dye-designed private course far west of Vail. It is now city-owned and more reasonably priced with the same views.
On a ridge high above town and the Colorado River is the relaxing, tree-lined, semi-private course. One fairway requires a drive over a neighborhood street to a wide landing area with grazing wild turkeys.
Award winning architect Jim Engh designed the rugged fairways that weave through canyons and ravines at the semi-private Lakota Links west of Glenwood Springs. The course has views of the vertical cliffs cut by the Colorado River.
This "split personality" course with an easy front nine turns into a totally challenging back nine that climbs through canyons, ravines and sheer rock walls.
Originally designed as housing area to support a large oil shale exploration, the community later grew into a nationally known all-season retirement center. Fairways run high above the Colorado River that flows 100 feet below.
The Western Colorado course visitors come to play! Ranked as high as #4 of all courses in Colorado. The Jim Engh design was Golf Digest's Best New Public Course in America when it opened.
The city-owned course far outside of town stretches below the spectacular cliffs of the Colorado National Monument.
